Meteorological Spring

Meteorological spring began on March 1st and there are signs of it everywhere. This past Wednesday I began my day with an hour and a half walk, with camera in hand. I started my walk at the beginning of the blue hour and walked until about an hour after sunrise. It was nice and cool, but not cold, with a gentle breeze. Here are some of the pictures I took from that walk:

A budding maple tree during the blue hour
Well Good Morning to you, too, my feathered friend!
Left, right, repeat.
Nothing feels better than an early morning sun bath!
"I see you."

A few of my favorite things

An awe-inspiring view that would not be possible without bare branches
Peek-a-boo
Though not completely full, the moon was shining brightly.
This altercation ended amicably down near the drainage pond.
Paddle like crazy, but remain calm on the surface.
More geese action in the drainage pond

And here are some from another recent walk:

The daffodils are blooming.

Wildflowers are some of my favorites.

It shouldn't be long before the magnolias are fully blooming!

It can be easy to focus on all the things we can't do during this time, but there is so much we can do. Unless I'm told that I can't go outside, I'll continue to take my walks and take pictures. Nature can be so grounding.

While practicing social distancing, I'll also practice media distancing. I'll keep up with what's going on in the news, but I will not immerse myself in it. I'll listen to what others are saying and respect the decisions that are being made because I don't have all the answers. That's why I'm taking a step back from judgement and a step towards understanding. I am focusing on what I can do to make the world a happier, healthier place. It truly does begin with ourselves and nature is one of our greatest partners in making this happen.
