"Iron Man" - SPOILER ALERT

Be forewarned if you have not seen ALL of the Marvel movies from "Iron Man" through "Spider-man: Far From Home". This is your SPOILER ALERT for what eventually happens!

I've come full circle with the Marvel movies that have been released to date since "Iron Man"! I watched "Iron Man" for the first time almost a year ago, but that was before I started posting reviews. So, I watched it again this year and now I'm ready to share my thoughts!

The first time I watched it, "Iron Man" had me wanting more right from the beginning of the story line that unfolded in the Marvel movies that have followed. It immediately made me a fan of Tony Stark and Iron Man. I was smitten by his charm and sense of humor.  He was a pretty awesome tech person, too! The second time I watched it, I enjoyed looking back at the memories, much like we do after we've lost a loved one. However, I looked back with a heavy heart knowing his eventual fate.

At the end of "Endgame", Tony Stark says, "Everybody wants a happy ending. Right? But it doesn't always roll that way. Maybe this time I'm hoping if you play this back, it's in celebration." I remembered his thoughts as I re-watched "Iron Man". At the end of "Endgame" he also went on to say, "I hope families are reunited, I hope we get it back and something like a normal version of the planet has been restored, if there ever was such a thing." This is oddly applicable in the times we are living in, though that quote can be applied whether we're experiencing a pandemic or not.

As far as the plot goes, it was an interesting origin movie that painted a vivid picture of how Iron Man came to be. My attention was held through the entire movie. It had the MCU's signature humor that I've come to love, as well as strong emotions.

I had forgotten that Lieutenant Rhodes was played by a different actor back then (Terrence Howard, followed by Don Cheadle). I feel they both did an equally good job playing that role, which I don't think is common in movies where one actor replaces another for a character we're already very familiar with.

Although Yinsen had a fairly minor role in the overall movie, he played a major part in Tony Stark's life. It's because of Yinsen that Tony Stark survived. Before he passed, Yinsen advised him to not waste  his life, which I now know Tony fulfilled. It cost him his own life, but he eventually saved the world. Yinsen would be proud of him.

I enjoyed seeing two other familiar faces as well - Pepper Potts and Agent Coulson. The entire movie was like visiting with old friends and reminiscing about the way things used to be. It wasn't necessarily "the good ol' days", but it did set the stage for so many other events that unfolded. It makes me want to watch all of the Marvel movies again. Perhaps one day I will.
