"Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" (SPOILER ALERT)

⭐⭐⭐⭐½ðŸ’–

The prequel trilogy continues with "Attack of the Clones". Of the ones I re-watched so far this month, this Episode was the least memorable and most confusing to me. I remembered that there were clones who resembled stormtroopers shown in the original trilogy, Anakin was growing up into a young man, his relationship with Padmé was evolving, and Anakin was showing signs of emotional struggle as he began his transition to the dark side.

When I watched it this year, I wanted to refresh my memory not only on the overall plot, but also on Boba Fett's role. I am planning to watch "The Book of Boba Fett" series soon for the first time, so becoming more familiar with his character is of interest to me.

Although this movie is my least favorite so far, I am glad I re-watched it because two things became clearer to me. I am hanging my head down in shame as I admit that up until I re-watched it, I thought the clone troopers were clones of the stormtroopers. Whoops! Not so much. I now understand that they are clones of Jengo Fett and that the stormtroopers came after that. Glad I cleared that up! I was also confused about if they were good guys or bad guys. Now I know the clones were bad guys programmed temporarily to be good guys.

In Episode II, I also realized who Boba Fett is. In "Attack of the Clones", he is the clone son of Jango Fett. When Jango Fett is killed, Boba has no one left to count on. Then of course we see him in the original trilogy as a grown man, a bounty hunter who is working under Darth Vader.

While this is so far my least favorite, I think it is a good movie overall. There are some significant plot developments in the ongoing saga and the creativity in characters and setting continues. While my experience wasn't as memorable as the other Star Wars movies I've seen so far this year, it is still worth watching.

  1. The clones aren't bad guys! They're just following orders. It's explained in the movie: "They are totally obedient, taking any order without question. We modified their genetic structure to make them less independent than the original host."

    1. Mihail, thank you for the inspiration to take a closer look at this. After I read your comment, I decided to go back and watch this movie again. I'm glad I did because, as a result, I picked up on more details, enjoyed it more, and gave it a higher star rating (with a heart even). The reason I called them bad guys is because of who apparently ordered them to be created. But yeah, I get what you're saying. They do as they're told. Which I guess would make them neither bad nor good. :)
