The Day the Moon Rolled Down the Roof

Often, the most memorable experiences in life are the ones we do not expect.

When I woke up today, it was raining. So I didn't even check to see if I could see the moon. I knew I wouldn't be able to. But really, what do I know?

I went about my morning rituals as usual, and after I finished meditating, it had already stopped raining. I glanced out the window and I saw this giant ball in the sky. It reminded me of the way the sun looked recently when it was hazed over by the wild fires out west. This, however, was not the sun. It was the full moon shining in all its glory!

I knew (for real this time) time was of the essence. The brilliant light bulb in the morning sky was already beginning to sink lower down towards the buildings in the distance. It was also between clouds.

It takes me a couple minutes to put my braces and shoes on, but thankfully, I was already wearing them. It was just a tad bit chilly outside, so I didn't have to put my full winter gear on. I just threw on a sweatshirt over what I was already wearing, strapped my purse around my waste (it has an emergency snack in it, so I always take it with me even if I'm just going out onto the balcony), swiftly, but gently, put on my picture-taking glasses, and tossed my camera around my shoulder. Out I went to snap a few pictures.

All I could think to myself was, "Whoa, buddy! Don't fall!" I was only able to see the moon for less than five minutes, but it was a memorable experience. Moon viewing usually is for me, whether it's full or not. I'll always remember this as the day the moon rolled down the roof, and I am grateful I was able to witness it.
