Happy Adoption Day, Qandi!

15 years ago today, Qandi chose me to be her catmom. It hasn't always been easy, and it's only gotten more challenging as she ages, but it has always been rewarding.

When she was two years young, she had all but two of her teeth extracted due to severe gingivitis. This surgery was devastating to her and she didn't eat for a week afterwards. However, she bounced back and has become unstoppable when it comes to food!

At a very young age, she was also diagnosed with a heart murmur and chronic ear irritation. Three years ago, she developed severe sinus problems, which have only gotten more severe since then. Last year, it was determined that she has high blood pressure and hyperthyroidism. As a result of the high blood pressure, she began to lose her eyesight and, at this point, it is almost completely gone.

While her vet and those who visit may not see the sweet, but fearless, side of her, despite all of her medical conditions, she continues to be a most loving and affectionate companion. I always (and I do mean ALWAYS), used to tell my best friend, Stephanie, that Qandi is the perfect balance between playful and affectionate. While the playfulness is not as prominent anymore, she clearly still has that spirit.

Saying that I'm blessed to be her catmom is an understatement. Words cannot adequately describe how much joy she continues to bring into my life each and every day. She has made me a better person. I will be forever grateful that our paths crossed, resulting in such a profound and everlasting bond.

Happy Adoption Day, sweet Qandi!💕
