Happy Birthday, my friend!
I can't let today go by without acknowledging your day. I hope to visit your final resting place soon, but for now, I hope this letter will suffice. Truthfully, though, I see you, hear you, and feel you every day. Your earthly being may have left this world, but you never left my heart.
So far, today has been an ordinary day, which I'm grateful for. I like the ordinary because it brings me great comfort. As you may remember, I thrive with routines, though I know deviating sometimes is also good.
After I woke up today and fed Qandi, I made like a hamster and got on my wheel for some hand cycling. There's no other cardio workout for me that tops hand cycling. I remember you had a hand cycle, too, and I think I remember you telling me you sometimes used one in rehab. I think of you every time I get on my cycle.
After that, I took my walk. It's been a very cloudy week, which I really don't mind. I just wish it were a bit cooler. I think I'll get my wish on Sunday. I can't believe it will be in the 80s tomorrow and Friday! The leaves are starting their wardrobe changes, but it seems to be happening more slowly than last year. Maybe that means it will last longer. We will just have to wait and see.
I have been watching a lot of movies this month. Halloween-themed movies are so much fun and the one I watched today reminds me of you - "Hocus Pocus". You're probably laughing, knowing that three evil witches make me think of you, but allow me to explain. The movie is filled with silliness, but it is also so very heartfelt, especially at the end. Every time I watch the end, it brings tears to my eyes. Tears of sadness, but also tears of comfort. Letting go is so very difficult, but it can also be beautiful and liberating.
Silliness and heartfelt - that was you. You had the wittiest sense of humor, but you also had a sentimental side, just like the movie. Those are the reasons why the movie reminds me of you. It's my favorite Halloween-themed movie and I can't wait until the sequel is released next year!
Well, I better get going. Qandi says, "Hi." Okay, I'll be honest. She's actually asking, "Where's my lunch?" Oh, speaking of cats, I'm wearing my Winnie the Pooh and friends shirt today. It has Tigger on it. I remember your kitty's name was Tigger.
Well take care, and thanks for always being there for me. Even today.
Your friend,
Meezan
P.S. I took this picture on my walk today.
